The 69th Ballz Deep Division COD 4

The 69th Ballz Deep Division for Call of Duty 4, Modern Warfare was thought of and created some time ago, but was never pursued in the way it is being pursued now. We are off to a good start, with several good members enlisting that are determined to help the clan grow. But, of course we are definitely in a serious recruiting stage, and everyone is welcome to come see what the clan and our playing style is really like, by visiting our public server at:

Server Name - 69th Ballz Deep Division HQ/SD Tactical
Server IP - 208.122.52.196:28993

The 69th is about preserving the values and playing styles that were first presented to many in the cod 4 community, as unique and a great change from the norm, by the 29th Infantry Division. Our goal is to continue the traditions learned while belonging to the 29th, as well as continuing to enhance certain aspects that may still be questionable or without adequate definition, while always remembering to hold the core values most high.

No Action on STA This Week!

There were no matches in CTF this week, due to the Labor Day holiday, and it looks like we got a bye this week for TS, so it looks like everyone in the Ballz Deep clan can relax and hone their skills for next weeks competition against the Alpha clan, when we will be challenging them in CTF on Sanctuary.

On another note. I would like to take a moment to welcome our newest member D-trix to -=BD=-! I'm sure he will be a great asset to us and we are glad to have him aboard.
STA Starts Tomorrow!

*Bang*
That sound you just imagined vividly after reading the first word was
this season getting off to a good start :) The schedules for CTF are
up, and here's hoping we can start it this Sunday as Seti planned. If
something changes, he will let you know, but as of right now, get your
game faces on.

The map is Turnpike. You all know it, you love it, there should be no
complaining about lack of time for this given map to prepare. Hopefully
the site is a little less clutter free on the contacts page (for CTF
that is). The new config for the season can be found here:
http://fnclan.com/cookies/sta3.cfg many thanks to Cookies and clan fn
for hosting it. See you all soon, good luck and have fun.

STA is starting up again!

Are you ready for another season of STA? Well, get ready, because they are about
ready to kick off the next season. "tentative start dates: Flags / July 27,
Frags / July 29" is what is says in the sta forums. Nothing official yet in
the STA news.

SETI has been working on an anticheat system to use for this
season. It sounds like they are still working out some bugs, so this start date
may only be a preseason, to help test the anticheat system. Either way, it
sounds like STA will be officially starting in the next week or two.

Happy Fraggin!

-=BD=-Headshot
Urban Terror Handicap Trial!

I would like to test this handicapping theory to see if it will work. I would like to have as many teams as possible sign up to play in a 4 week, trial competition, to test the system to see how well it works, and what people think of it. I would like to have the matches on Sunday nights at 6pm pst (9pm est), and it should be over before the next season of STA starts.

If you know of a clan that would like to compete in a league, but is afraid of becoming the next punching bag for the leets, please encourage them to join. Teams should have at least 5 players who can compete.

The rules aren't complete, but will be similar to the current STA league rules. Before a real competition begins, the rules will be completed.

If your team played in last STA's last season, your starting handicap will be determined by your finishing rank. If your team is new, and no record is available to your skill level, your rank will be determined before the trial begins.

Please register and sign your team up to help test this out. You will have nothing to lose, and only at least 4 fun matches to gain. Don't mind the mess on the site as I am still trying to figure out how the program works. Just register and create your team, then direct your members where to go to sign up as well. There is currently only one league to join on the site, "Urban Terror 5v5 CTF". If you have any problems registering, or have a question, you can visit the forums, or find me in irc #bd on irc.enterthegame.com
Ideas to help new clans!

In the past few sta seasons, all of the new clans to join quit after
only a few matches, and some existing clans crumbled after realizing
they had no chance to ever be competitive. So far the same is happening
with conage cup. In the first couple weeks, it looks like at least two
of the new clans have already quit. I still feel that without
competition, urt doesn't have much chance of survivial, but without a
chance for new clans to ever win a match, I don't see much chance for
new clans.

There has to be a way to enable both new and old
members to play and compete together on a more level playing field.
Unless new clans feel they can actually win some matches, I don't see
many even trying. I know there is a supply of new players that want to
belong to a clan and compete, because we constantly have people trying
to get in Ballz Deep, and I've seen other clans grow their numbers
considerably lately.

Ballz Deep ioUrT Ladders in Pre-Registration!

Ok, I finally got tired of waiting for someone else to find or create a ladder
system to get some competitions going for the new players in Urban
Terror. It's not much right now, but you can register your team and
select which ladders you would be interested in competing in.

These
ladders are in pre-registration. If you would like to compete in the
upcoming ladders, please register your team asap. The site isn't totaly
complete. Currently we are only able to register and view teams. Soon
all the needed features will be available to edit you teams information
and challenge other teams in your ladders. The ladders should be at
least operational within 1 week (by Dec. 9th).

The rules we will be using will be the previous rules from the twl ladders, copied before they removed them. Some of the
rules still need to be updated. Since there isn't any current anticheat program, these ladders won't use any. Cheaters will
have to be found by disputes and demos.

Currently
these ladders are primarily for teams in the United States and Canada,
but may consider expanding to include euro ladders, if enough are
interested.

The need for bomb mode!

After playing a lot lately with the noobs and the veteran Urban Terror players; it has become obvious to me that the strafe jumping is ruining the ctf gametype. Since it is doubtful that they are going to limit or remove the amount of speed you can gain by strafe jumping, I think it's important to help grow a gametype that may not be affected quite as much by the speed demons and tricksters of UrT. Since there really is no objective to team survivor, except camp and wait for the clock to run down, or your opponent to walk into your KOA regulated camp site; I think bomb mode would be the next logical choice. There is still a team objective that will allow the team to work together to win. Flying across the map with the bomb won't do you much good, since you can be shot while planting it or defusing the bomb, taking away most of the advantage of strafe jumping and knowing all the tricks.
